Division of Science for Bio-Production

Stable production and distribution of safe and reliable foods, environmental preservation and biodiversity conservation are fundamental challenges that secure human existence, and are of increasing significance today on a global scale. Nutritious and tasty dairy and meat products, food crops and garden ornamental plants are essential in helping us to lead pleasant, culturally rich lives. To resolve the above challenges, we must deeply understand animals, plants and microorganisms, including pathogens and, develop, improve and disseminate efficient, sustainable and practical technologies based on that understanding.

Division research focuses on effective use of animals (livestock) and plants (crops) as required in the 21st century, and provides cutting-edge education and research regarding food production by combining macroscience, which deals with individual organisms, and microscience, which deals with cells, genes and chemical compounds.
