Evaluating the soundness of infrastructure structures using ICT technology
Infrastructures built during periods of high economic growth are aging. Moreover, it is difficult to secure financial resources and engineers required to maintain and manage infrastructure in the future. Therefore, utilizing various sensors, image or robot technology, and ICRT (Information, Communication and Robot Technology) technology, our goal is to 1) establish an inspection method that can efficiently evaluate the soundness of infrastructure structures, decreasing labor costs, and 2) develop strategies for maintaining and managing urban functions. |
Monitoring and analysis methods for disaster prevention and mitigation plans
In addition to the frequent occurrence of earthquakes and typhoons, new disasters, such as ‘guerilla’ torrential rain and urban floods, have recently been incident on cities. Unfortunately, full disaster prevention, wherein no damage occurs, is not possible for city cities. Therefore, it is important to estimate the magnitude of damage in advance, propose disaster reduction methods that minimize damage, and implement soft measures to effectively mitigate damage through self-help and mutual assistance. To link this idea to realistic planning, we develop monitoring or simulation techniques to detect the occurrence and magnitude of damage in advance. |
