Applicability of hydrophobic soil to a surface coating layer of the capillary barrier embankment
◆Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (JSPS) "Young Scientists (B)" ◆Leader: Kim Byeongsu ◆Period: FY2016-FY2017 This study focus on the applicability of hydrophobic soil to a surface coating layer of the capillary barrier embankment that has long-term shutoff and drainage functions. A capillary barrier of a new type using hydrophobic soil in the embankment is proposed in order to improve the safety of the structures of unsaturated soil. In order to examine the mechanical and hydraulic characteristics of hydrophobic soil, the constant water content compression (CWCC) test and the water retention test are performed. |
