Plant diseases cause serious loss of global crop yield. The successful management of crop damages is required for food security and sustainable society. To combat pathogens, pesticides and disease resistance cultivars are used, but they are often overcome by mutations in pests. Disease resistance inducers offer another approach which confers durable resistance to various crop species against broad range of pests with low environmental load. Therefore, plant immune-priming chemicals are now being screened using the original procedures. Their modes of actions can be useful to understand plant immunity as well as to develop novel crop protection technology.
